Iran Village Records Highest Heat Index

A Dangerous Record

Unbearable Heat

The village of Bandar Mahshahr in Iran has recorded the highest heat index ever measured on Earth, a staggering 82.2°C (179.96°F). This extreme heat poses a serious threat to the health and well-being of the villagers.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it feels when the effects of temperature and humidity are combined. Bandar Mahshahr's record-breaking heat index is a result of the extreme humidity in the region, which is caused by the evaporation of water from the Persian Gulf.

This extreme heat can cause heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and even death. The villagers are advised to stay indoors as much as possible, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day.
